Cover Die Eclipse Technique for Group of Seven

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We used a different (to me) technique at the Group of Seven Cardmakers
this month.  I will admit that I did some shopping to get some cover plates
that I though would work for this technique.

After seeing Julia's gorgeous blue and white card I wondered how patterned paper
would work for this technique.  This pack of paper has two pieces of some designs, one
of paper and one of vellum.  I used the vellum piece as the base and die cut the paper.
In hindsight, I think I would like it better if I used the darker piece as the base.

I used a plaid die to cut the top piece and glued it to a piece of cardstock.
Then I lined the die cut piece over the base, lining up the designs.

Then...

I had two past calendar pages with this sunflower in my UFO box.  I like this better
with more white around the design.  I think it makes the design stand out better.

And my favorite...

More past calendar pages and the other plaid die.

I hope you'll go to the Group of Seven Cardmakers blog to see what the
the fantastic designs the rest of the group has done.  You'll find a link to a video
tutorial by Gina K Designs to help with the technique.

Santa Magic

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Here's another for my Christmas stash.

My friend Nance brought this stamp to share a long time ago.

I finally got it colored and put on a card.

I've cut it with the largest die from Elegant STAX by MFT.

A few die cut and punched stars and strips of gold foil added a bit more magic.

I'm joining in with Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. - Fourth Monday Anything Goes, where she has
challenged herself.  It's a good way to get inspired!

Black-eyed Susans

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The Black-eyed Susan is one of my favorite flowers.

When I was a kid, the meadow behind our house was full of them in the Summer
and since they weren't in my Mom's garden, I could pick all I wanted.

These were all colored and in my UFO box. They are from a Digital Stamp by Power Poppy and I'd colored them when we were staying with our grandsons.  When I got home,
I was on to something else and they were put up for later.

This one was printed in grayscale and colored with Copics.

I cut it with an elongated hexagon die and fussy cut a larger hexagon to
put behind the design.  The cover plate background was also in my UFO box
waiting for the right design to go with it.

And....

This one was printed light, (I'm not sure how I did that!) and colored with
Caran'dache Supracolor Pencils with a light wash of Tumbled Glass re-inker
in the background.

I added them behind a frame cut with a circle die and added a thin circle frame
and thin strips of cardstock to bring out the yellow in the design.

This one doesn't say birthday but can be used for almost any occasion.

AAA Birthday - Geometric

Sparkly Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This Merry Christmas was a challenge!

I found the die on clearance but was disappointed when it came and I realized that
the letters come out separate. They did cut well from the glitter paper though.

I cut the backing from vellum but it really curled once the letters were glued on.
So it sat in my UFO box for a while.

Recently I went through a phase of either use it or lose it!

This embossed piece was also waiting for a home and the two seemed to work great.

It looks like it's crooked in this picture but I didn't notice that until just now.
Hopefully it will be sent out this year.

ABC Christmas - E is for Embossing
Jingle Belles - Bling on the Holidays (Glitter paper)
